Call me old-fashioned, but I’m a sucker for love notes. I enjoy writing them, but I love to receive them. There’s something special about reading someone’s fondest thoughts of you on physical paper.
Before texts and emails dominated our lives, writing notes in middle and high school was the way to go. Crushes would pour out their hearts on paper about their feelings for me. Of course, their feelings would last for a moment (some longer than others). Nonetheless, it’s always nice to feel wanted and appreciated while seeing it on paper.
Valentine’s Day is here. Millions will get love notes and cards (whether written by someone else or themselves) about how special and loved they are. Some may be for the moment or for a lifetime. For those who don’t have a Valentine, most likely won’t receive one at all.
I know how heartbreaking it is to not receive a special card, note, or letter myself. In my season of singleness, love notes and letters didn’t come around often, if not at all. This made Valentine’s Day substantially harder to endure while feeling slightly unloved and rejected for years.
Suddenly, something happened one year around Valentine’s Day that changed my perspective and life completely.
Listening to a Christian radio station one year, I heard a song. I can’t quite recall the artist or the title now, but he speaks about God’s Word as a love letter. One big, giant, love letter.
In his melodic rhymes, he quickly sings about God’s, passionate love for us. Up and down scripture, an abundance of God-inspired poems, notes, and letters are written about us. From Genesis to Revelation, it’s all God’s love.
“Hmm… I never thought about it that way before,” thinking to myself. “The Bible is a love letter. TO ME???”
Wanting to see for myself, I went home frantically searching for clues about these passionate love notes the artist speaks about. Not taking long to find, there were many in front of me on paper. Here it was; 66 books of God’s eternal love notes of affirmation instead of denial, acceptance instead of rejection, passionate love instead of disdain for me.
While searching, I would find special scriptures marking them with a fluorescent highlighter. A few I cherish in my heart and often reread them over again. When I do, I’m reminded of God’s DEEP, eternal, and unfailing love for me during the lonely Valentine’s Day seasons and the blissful. After taking my time to read, I couldn’t help but experience God’s love and approval.
Whether or not you have love in your life this Valentine’s Day, you always receive a love note. God’s Word is a constant reminder of how much He’s crazy about you. He’s always loved you in the past and will continue to now and in the future.
Don’t believe me?
Here are at least 5 heart-bursting, truth-filled, love notes that God is sending to you and me:
♥ The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness, I have drawn you. (Jeremiah 31:3 NKJV)
♥ “The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”(Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV)
♥ And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14 NKJV)
♥ For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NLT)
Lastly, this is my FAVORITE one.
♥ And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow — not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below — indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8: 38-39 NLT)
WOW, The last one!
Can’t you see how loved we are by God from that scripture ALONE?
Of course, there are plenty more; enough for you to not feel left out or rejected for a lifetime on Valentine’s Day. No matter how your day of love goes, know that the Creator and King of the universe love you with TRUE LOVE willing to remind you always with TRUER WORDS that goes beyond the end of time.
♥ Happy Valentine’s Day ♥
